FORT ERIE, Ont. – A southern Ontario hockey player has been charged after police say a blow he delivered to another player on the ice was not “part of the game.”
Police say it happened Saturday during a hockey tournament in Fort Erie, in the Niagara Region.
They say one of the goalies struck a player on the other team in the face with his stick, causing significant facial injuries.
Todd Ball, 38, is charged with aggravated assault.
Police say any other similar incidents on the ice will be investigated as criminal offences.
