Kamloops school district offering gang reduction session for parents

KAMLOOPS – Kamloops Thompson School District will be offering an information session for parents of school-aged children on how to keep kids safe from gang involvement and recruitment next week.

Parents are invited to attend GRIP: Gang Reduction through Informed Practice on Tuesday, March 5, which is a free informative presentation that will cover several topics on youth gangs, according to the school district's website.

"Children from all socio-economic backgrounds can be vulnerable to gang recruitment and involvement," the district says.

The presentation will cover understanding why youth are attracted to the gang lifestyle, warning signs to look for, what to do if you think your child is involved in gang-related activities and how to keep kids safe from gang involvement.

The presentation will take place at the Henry Grube Education Centre on March 5 at 6:30 p.m.
