B.C. punk rockers Dayglo Abortions making stop in Vernon

VERNON – Iconic Canadian punk rockers Dayglo Abortions are heading to Vernon.

DGA, as they are known amongst their fans, will play Record City on Thursday, March 21. The veteran old-school punk rockers from Victoria will bring almost 40 years of their hardcore crust-punk tunes to the intimate Vernon venue.

Record City promotor Becca Ploegman said the band became a punk rock success in the 1980s along with other B.C. bands like D.O.A. and over the last four decades has remained a cult favourite with punk fans worldwide.

"It's going to be a trashy punk rock show with an old school edge of what it was like back in the day," Ploegman said.

The band is full of the old-school punk attitude she said, with foul language and a show that flicks a middle finger to society.

Proud to be a Canadian is DGA's sing-a-long anthem and is sure to get the crowd moshing.

"Punks not dead, it's still alive and well, and on the road," Ploegman said.

So far the show is the band's only Okanagan date on their Western Canada spring tour.

Tickets for the March 21 show at Record City in Vernon cost $15 in advance and $18 at the door. Local band DTF will be supporting.
