Vancouver police say ‘Weeds’ store an illegal marijuana operation

[byline]

VANCOUVER – If the name of the store didn’t give away the secret, the complaints were sure to get police attention.

Vancouver police say they executed a search warrant on a store name Weeds on Thursday afternoon.

They allege it was an illegal marijuana store.

Police say officers moved in after receiving reports that pot was being bought and sold to youth in the surrounding East Vancouver neighbourhood.

Five customers and three staff members in the store were identified and released, and no arrests were made.

Vancouver police say the department’s priority remains focusing on violent drug traffickers and people who prey on youth, the marginalized or the drug addicted.
