Kelowna RCMP searching for bank robbery suspect

KELOWNA — Kelowna RCMP are searching for a suspect in connection to a robbery earlier today.

Kelowna RCMP received a report of a robbery today, March 1, at the Royal Bank branch located in the 3000 block of Pandosy Street just before 10 a.m.

Officers responded to the scene and began to search the area for the suspect, according to an RCMP media release.

“The suspect reportedly entered the bank and passed a note to one of the tellers which demanded money,” Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Tania Caroll said in the release. “He fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash. Although his note indicated he was in possession of a weapon, none were produced.”

Police describe the suspect as a Caucasian man, in his 50s, approximately 5’8” to 5’9” in height, with white and grey facial stubble. The suspect was last seen wearing a large brown jacket, a grey toque with a built in visor and a baggy pair of sweat pants.

The Robbery Unit of the Kelowna RCMP General Investigation Section has taken over the case.
