EDMONTON – Some flights at the Edmonton International Airport had to be cancelled due to heavy rain and high winds.
Gusts of up to 90 kilometres per hour were reported on Friday.
Heather Hamilton with the EIA said that resulted in cancellations, delays and flight changes.
By 2 p.m., 48 flights had been cancelled or diverted.
However, by late afternoon the airport tweeted that the “high wind event” was subsiding and they were working toward re-establishing normal operations.
Hamilton said passengers who had their flights cancelled should contact their airline to rebook.
The airport also recommended that rebooked passengers should allow extra time to get to their flights.
