LAST MINUTE DUMP OF SNOW SAVES THE DAY
KELOWNA – Its fall in the valley bottom, but its winter on the ski hills in the Okanagan.
Big White opened Saturday with skiers and snowboards carving fresh lines in a dump of 28 cm of powder over the twenty-four hours leading up to Saturday morning.
“It came right down to the wire,” according to senior vice president Michael J. Ballingall. “This is the opening that our loyal customers from Kelowna deserved.”
Ballingall had been worried the warm weather earlier in the week would force them to cancel opening day. He had announced the first day of skiing and snowboarding on Friday, Nov. 8 and then the weather changed.
The opening is one of the earliest in the ski hill’s history.
All rentals and lessons were half price on opening day.
