Sorrento man killed in head-on crash with semi in Shuswap

A 40-year-old Sorrento man was killed Wednesday in a head-on collision with a tractor trailer.

The Sorrento man was driving a passenger vehicle that drove onto the wrong side of the divided Trans-Canada Highway between Highlands Drive and Golf Course Drive hitting the on-coming semi at approximately 10 a.m. Nov. 20, according to an RCMP media release.

The driver was the only person in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. RCMP are not releasing his identity.

The driver and a passenger in the semi trailer sustained minor injuries.

The initial investigation closed the highway for several hours.

Salmon Arm RCMP are asking anyone with information about the collision to contact them at 250-832-6044.
