Despite winter weather, time to think about booking your favourite B.C. Park campsite

There hasn’t been much incentive weather-wise lately for camping enthusiasts to start thinking about this summer’s outdoor opportunities, but sooner or later the skies will clear, the snow will melt, temperatures will warm up and camping season will be upon us.

The opening day for making reservations at B.C. provincial campgrounds used to be March 15, but that changed in 2017. The reservation system was replaced with an extended four-month rolling system of open campsites. Group reservations can be made up to 12 months in advance.

Reservable dates vary by campground, but the majority come into effect around mid-May. Campers should check individual park pages here to determine what date their desired campground is open for reservations.

B.C. has 643 provincial parks, 230 of which are accessible to people with disabilities, according to B.C. Parks. More than 10,700 campsites are accessible by vehicle, with 2,000 hike-in campsites in the backcountry.
