NEW YORK – Buffalo Sabres goalie Aaron Dell received a three-game suspension from the NHL on Wednesday for an incident involving Ottawa Senators forward Drake Batherson.
Batherson was chasing the puck behind the net late in the first period of Ottawa’s 5-0 win over Buffalo on Tuesday night when he was hit by Dell. Batherson fell into the boards awkwardly and twisted his ankle.
Batherson required assistance to leave the ice. Dell was not given a penalty on the play.
Dell will lose US$11,250.00 in salary that will go to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
