American Brady Schnell shoots 59 at PGA Tour Canada’s ATB Financial Classic

CALGARY – American Brady Schnell shot a 13-under 59 on Friday at the ATB Financial Classic, the second-best round in PGA Tour Canada history.

Schnell holed a 52-degree gap wedge from 122 yards on his final hole of the day to reach 13-under.

“To shoot 59 is crazy enough, but to hole out on the last hole to do it, I just can’t even believe it,” said Schnell. “It’s a really hard thing for it to sink in when you just did it. I realized it pretty quickly and just waited for those guys to putt out.”

Jason Bohn previously shot a 13-under 58 in the final round of the 2001 Bayer Championship, the only other sub-60 score in Tour history.

Despite the impressive round, Schnell is tied for third with Christopher Ross of Dundas, Ont., at 14 under.

American Brock Mackenzie shot a 9-under 63 to sit atop the leaderboard, while fellow countryman Stephen Carney is second at 15-under par.
