Trinity Arsenault of St. Catharines youngest person to swim across Lake Ontario

TORONTO – A 14-year old St. Catharines, Ont., girl has become the youngest person on record to make the 52-kilometre swim across Lake Ontario.

Trinity Arsenault set out just after 6 p.m. Sunday from Niagara-on-the-Lake.

She arrived at Toronto’s Marilyn Bell Park about 24 hours later.

The park is named for the first person to swim across the lake, in 1954.

Annaleise Carr of Norfolk County was also 14 when she completed the swim two years ago, but she was a few months older than Arsenault.

Arsenault’s mother has also made the swim, making them the first mother-daughter team to do so.(The Canadian Press, CKTB)
