Kelowna fire crews rescue injured hiker

KELOWNA — A woman was injured while hiking in the Crawford area of Kelowna yesterday.

Emergency crews responded to an emergency call yesterday, March 16, and found the injured hiker in Canyon Falls Park, a Kelowna Fire Department media release says.

She was at the bottom of the falls and was too injured to hike back out.

The Technical Rescue Team used rope systems to get her out of the canyon in a basket stretcher, the fire department says.

She was then transferred to hospital for further medical care.

Kelowna Fire Department responded with one engine and the rope rescue team. Central Okanagan Search and Rescue volunteers and B.C. Ambulance Service paramedics also assisted in the rescue.
