iN VIDEO: Juno-nominated blue grass band coming to Penticton

PENTICTON – A Canadian acoustic bluegrass quartet, a Juno-award nominee, will be making their way to Penticton this month.

The Slocan Ramblers will bring music from their Juno award-nominated album to the Dream Cafe in Penticton on March 30, a media release says.

The album "Queen City Jubilee" was up for Traditional Roots Album of the Year at the Juno awards this past weekend, but the Ramblers lost to Pharis and Jason Romero's album "Sweet Old Religion".

"Rooted in traditional bluegrass music, the band is instills both the old and the modern into their creative process," the release says. "With a reputation for energetic live shows, impeccable musicianship and an uncanny ability to convert anyone within earshot into a lifelong fan."

The Slocan Ramblers' sound is influenced by artists like The Stanley Brothers, Norman Blake and Steve Earle. They have received a good review from BBC Radio and won the 2015 Edmonton Folk Fest Emerging Artist Award.
