Crash claims life of Chase woman

CHASE – A 39-year-old woman from Chase was killed when the vehicle she was a passenger in left Kamloops Shuswap Road Saturday afternoon and rolled down a steep embankment.

Const. Valerie Guillaume with the Chase RCMP detachment says the crash happened about five kilometres west of Pritchard at about 3 p.m.

Three people were in the westbound vehicle when it rolled. The driver and one of the passengers were taken to Royal Inland Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The third passenger was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Her name isn’t being released until the police can inform all her family.

“It was a gravel road surface with compact snow and icy sections at the time of the incident,” Const. Guillaume says.

Both the Coroner and a RCMP collision reconstruction expert are investigating.
