Eight more chances to get the homeless off the street

KELOWNA – An eight bed supportive housing unit for homeless men in Kelowna project was completed using a $60,000 grant from the province.

Chandler Street House is operated by Inn from the Cold-Kelowna society, an organization helping the homeless by building skills needed to live independently. The money will go toward extensive renovations required to make the aging house operational. Before the grant, renovations were funded by donations and the sweat of community volunteers, organizations and local businesses.

Following renovations, the society opened the building's doors and is now at full capacity.

Chandler Street House provides homeless men with long-term housing and 24/7 staff support. Support programs include life skills development  such as cooking, cleaning, conflict resolution, budgeting, communication, and access to volunteer mentors, community support and specialized professional support through on-site visits from partnering agencies.
