Canadian who died in Puerto Vallarta was victim of homicide: Mexico police

PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico – Mexican police have confirmed that a Canadian citizen who died while on vacation in Puerto Vallarta last month was the victim of homicide.

The Canadian has been identified as 46-year-old Duane Joseph Lang, of Regina.

Puerto Vallarta police spokesman Adan Leyva says when friends and neighbours couldn’t get a hold of Lang for a few days, his landlord decided to check up on him on July 30.

Leyva says Lang was found in the bedroom of his apartment in a pool of blood lying face-up with seven stab wounds.

Leyva says although the neighbourhood isn’t considered dangerous, another expat was found dead in the same apartment a few years ago.

The investigation is being handled by the state public prosecutor.
