Southwest Airlines crew declares emergency due to smell; lands without incident in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE – The crew of a Southwest Airlines flight declared an emergency en route from Orlando, Florida, to Milwaukee, because of an electrical smell in the back of the plane.

Flight 663, which carried 127 passengers and five crew members, landed as scheduled in Milwaukee without incident about 10:15 a.m. Sunday.

WISC-TV reports (http://bit.ly/XsYhqn ) declaring an emergency moved the flight up in the landing order to get on the ground faster.

The flight was supposed to continue to Los Angeles, but another plane was brought in to complete that leg of the trip. Southwest said it was investigating a possible mechanical problem.
