‘Avatar’ director James Cameron’s company launches China venture to market 3-D for film, TV

BEIJING, China – “Avatar” director James Cameron’s company is launching a China venture to market its 3-D technical wizardry to the country’s fast-developing film and television industries.

Cameron and his business partner, Vince Pace, said Wednesday their Cameron Pace Group will supply 3-D technology and production services to Chinese filmmakers. They unveiled a joint venture with two state-owned Chinese partners and said they are in discussions with state broadcaster CCTV about possible collaboration on 3-D television.

The announcement comes as Hollywood studios rush to link up with Chinese partners to gain access to the country’s government-controlled film market. On Tuesday, DreamWorks Animation said its next “Kung Fu Panda” movie will be co-produced in China with local partners.
