Egoyan to direct Reynolds in psychological thriller ‘Queen of the Night’

TORONTO – Canadian filmmaker Atom Egoyan will direct Ryan Reynolds in the psychological thriller “Queen of the Night.”

Egoyan says he’s excited to work with the Vancouver-bred heart-throb, best known for a string of Hollywood rom-coms including “The Proposal” and “Definitely, Maybe.”

In “Queen of the Night,” Reynolds plays the father of an abducted child. He embarks on a search eight years after her disappearance when a series of disturbing clues convince him she is alive.

The film is based on a screenplay co-written by Egoyan and David Fraser.

Reynolds says he admires Egoyan’s films “Chloe,” “Felicia’s Journey” and “The Sweet Hereafter” and looks forward to seeing his directing style first hand.

Shooting is expected to begin in February 2013 in southern Ontario.
