ENDERBY – An RCMP tactical response team arrested a Vernon armed robbery suspect in a sting operation in Enderby earlier this week.
RCMP say on Tuesday, April 2, a man with a sawed-off shotgun held up a business on 27 Street in Vernon and the investigation led officers to an address on George Street in Enderby where they believed the suspect was located.
The heavily armed RCMP emergency response team was called in to make the arrest.
"In responding to calls of this nature, our police officers want to ensure the safety of everyone involved including the suspect and other occupants of the residence," Vernon RCMP operations officer Insp. Gord Stewart said in the release.
During the raid, police found a loaded firearm.
RCMP say a 35-year-old Enderby man is now in custody and facing charges including robbery with a firearm, disguise with intent, pointing a firearm and possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order.
