SAN FERNANDO, Calif. – A man who stabbed to death a California college student in order to steal his $35,000 car has been sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole.
Thirty-year-old Agustin Fernandez of Long Beach was sentenced Friday for the first-degree murder of Abdullah Alkadi.
Alkadi, a 23-year-old Cal State Northridge engineering student from Saudi Arabia, vanished in 2014.
Prosecutors say Fernandez killed him after responding to Alkadi’s Craigslist ad to sell an Audi A5.
Alkadi’s body was found about a month later in the desert off a freeway in Palm Desert.
The Audi was later found parked at Fernandez’s apartment.
