The below-normal temperatures this week have done little to keep Kamloopsians from enjoying the outdoors as gardening, soccer and jogs through the park become normal sights around the city again.

Spring in Kamloops is a season that brings varying temperatures coupled with the occasional bout of wind and rain. While April has already seen it all, the good news is by Tuesday Kamloops is expected to be back in the normal temperature range with highs of 18 C.

The first week of April saw above average temperatures with gusting winds over the weekend and then last week Kamloops quickly plummeted to between four and eight degrees below normal, again with some very windy days.

This week began in the lower range, with a high of only 10 C on Monday and the temperature has continued to climb. By Friday afternoon the mercury had reached 16 C at the airport and almost 15 C in Sahali but showers with a chance of thundershowers is still being threatened.

This weekend temperatures will drop again, with a high of only 8 C and a 60 per cent chance of showers forecast for Saturday and 10 C on Sunday. The cooler air will roll in at the same time as the West Coast Amusement fair at Aberdeen Mall, which runs from 3-10 p.m. on Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. on Sunday.

According to Environment Canada only six days have seen more than a trace of rain in the valley so far this month, with over half the fallen amount coming this past Sunday and Monday.

Monday the weather will start to climb back up, with a high of 13 C forecast and by Tuesday we will be right back at normal temperatures for this time of year with a high of 18 C.
