IT’S NOT TV, IT’S AN AFTERPARTY

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – With a record total of 19 honours, the mood was absolutely celebratory at HBO’s Emmys afterparty on Monday night.

The network’s big winners, including “Veep” star Julia Louis-Dreyfus and “The Normal Heart” director Ryan Murphy, clutched their trophies while chatting with partygoers in the shadow of a giant white modern sculpture at the tented party outside the Pacific Design Center.

Billy Crystal held court at a table near the dance floor, while “Newsroom” star Jeff Daniels mingled throughout the crowd as a band crooned doo-wop classics.

“Girls” creator Lena Dunham slipped out of the party early clutching her shoes.

Other stars partying late into the evening included “The Comeback” star Lisa Kudrow, “Curb Your Enthusiasm” creator Larry David and “The Leftovers” actor Justin Theroux.

As Emmy winner Stephen Colbert attempted to wade through the crowd with his family in tow, the future “Late Show” host was accosted by a familiar face: Larry Wilmore, whose taking over his “Colbert Report” spot on Comedy Central.

“Hey, big winner,” said Wilmore. “I didn’t know if you could hear me!”
