Kelowna teens sprayed with bear mace in unprovoked attack

KELOWNA – A group of teens were sprayed with bear mace last week and Kelowna police are looking for three suspects in connection to the attack.

According to a press release, Kelowna RCMP received a report on April 12 at 12:20 p.m. about a group of teenagers being assaulted with bear mace while they were walking in the 700 block of Richards Road.

Eye witnesses stated the youths were heading back to school during their lunch break when a black Dodge Durango pulled up next to them. The rear passenger rolled down his window and sprayed a cannister of bear mace on the group. Witnesses said the attack was unprovoked.

The teens were treated for their injuries at the school by staff members.

Police are looking for three south Asian men who are connected with the Dodge Durango. Anyone with information on the suspects or the truck is asked to contact Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
