Candlelight vigil to be held in honour of Penticton shooting victims

PENTICTON – Two Penticton organizations have partnered so residents can pay their respects at a candlelight vigil in honour of those who died in yesterday's shootings.

The Penticton and Wine Country Chamber of Commerce together with the Ooknakane Friendship Centre are holding a candlelight vigil for the victims tomorrow, April 17, in Gyro Park.

Organizers say in a media release the vigil will give residents from Penticton and area an opportunity to come together to show support for the families and friends of those who died.

The vigil, being held at Gyro Park, starts at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow, April 17.

Ben Bulmer

After a decade of globetrotting, U.K. native Ben Bulmer ended up settling in Canada in 2009. Calling Vancouver home he headed back to school and studied journalism at Langara College. From there he headed to Ottawa before winding up in a small anglophone village in Quebec, where he worked for three years at a feisty English language newspaper. Ben is always on the hunt for a good story, an interesting tale and to dig up what really matters to the community.
