Pittsburgh-based reality show ‘The Chair,’ which follows 2 young directors, is set to debut

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Viewers of a new reality TV show will soon find out what happens when two fledgling directors are given $850,000 to direct their own movies from the same script.

“The Chair” is shot in Pittsburgh and documents the making of both movies. The 10-week series will debut Sept. 6 on the cable network Starz.

One movie is called “Not Cool,” directed by YouTube moviemaker Shane Dawson. The other is “Hollidaysburg,” directed by actress and screenwriter Anna (AHN’-ah) Martemucci (mar-teh-MOO’-chee). The films will be released shortly after the weekly one-hour series begins.

Both movies were based on a script by Dan Schoffer called “How Soon is Now.” They’re coming-of-age stories about friends who return home to western Pennsylvania during their first Thanksgiving holiday break in college.
