VERNON – Whether you’re carving the slopes at Silver Star or cruising between booths at a craft fair, Vernon has plenty in store this weekend. Environment Canada is predicting a mix of sun and cloud both Saturday and Sunday, with highs between -2 and -3 C and lows of -8 C. It’s a bit cooler than usual, with normals pegged at 2 C for maximum temperatures and -2 C for minimums, so bust out the toques, mittens and hot chocolate.

Silver Star Mountain Resort is offering a preview of the ski season with 50 per cent off lift tickets this weekend. There will be 25 runs open on the Comet Six Pack and Silver Queen Quad chairlifts. The official opening is set for Nov. 28.

Spread the cheer at the Upper Room Mission by donating a back-pack filled with the necessities not everyone can afford. 

Visit the 39th annual Okanagan Artisans Guild show and sale on Friday or Saturday at the Best Western Lodge. It’s known as the longest running event of its kind in the Okanagan.

Saturday also boasts the Abbeyfield House Christmas lunch and bake sale and a Christmas market at the Vernon Christian School.

Raise the Woof Comedy Show, a fundraiser for the Okanagan Humane Society and Hug a Bull, is set for Saturday night. You could win a day with the North Okanagan’s police dog unit!
