House destroyed in Peachland after house fire
PEACHLAND — Fire crews spent yesterday afternoon fighting a house fire that destroyed a three-storey house in Peachland.
Assistant Fire Chief James Springer with Peachland Fire Department says the house was engulfed in flame when crews arrived shortly after 1 p.m. yesterday, April 20.
"Most of the house is burned off on all three floors," Springer says on the phone, adding that the damage also extended to a neighbour's outdoor sauna.
He says one resident and one dog escaped the house fire.
By the end of the day 20 firefighters were tackling the fire that took until about 6 p.m. to fully extinguish.
Somerset Avenue was closed until about 4 p.m.
No cause has been determined, and it is not yet known if the fire is suspicious.
Peachland Fire Department will be investigating this week.
