A little drizzle this weekend will make warm, sunny weather all the more welcome next week.
Environment Canada is predicting sunshine and highs of 18 C towards the end of next week.
Highs of 14 C on Monday will climb steadily throughout the week, to 17 C on Tuesday, and 18 C on Wednesday and Thursday.
But Vernon will have to suffer through some rain first.
Saturday looks rainy and cool, with a 60 per cent chance of showers and high of 8 C. Sunday will see more of the same.
Sandy Melvin, co-owner of Shepherd's Home Hardware in Armstrong, says the time is right to start planting a variety of plants, including pansies and numerous vegetables.
"Most of our plants have been hardened off, so they're ready to be planted outdoors," Melvin says, noting sub-zero temperatures seem to be behind us.
