Former NFL player Donte Stallworth to cover national security for Huff Post

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Huffington Post has made an unusual choice for a new correspondent covering national security — former NFL wide receiver Donte Stallworth.

The website announced Thursday that the 10-year NFL player will join its Washington bureau this month as a fellow.

Ryan Grim, the site’s Washington bureau chief, said Stallworth has a quick mind, insatiable curiosity and a passion for politics.

Amanda Terkel, managing editor for politics, said anyone who has followed Stallworth’s Twitter feed knows he has a real interest and opinions on the topic.

Stallworth had a 10-year career in the NFL, ending after an injury-shortened season with the New England Patriots two years ago.
