Mexico arrests suspect in rape case

MEXICO CITY – Authorities in the eastern Mexican state of Veracruz say they’ve arrested one of the suspects in an alleged sexual assault that has become a symbol of efforts to challenge the frequent impunity of the wealthy.

State prosecutor Luis Angel Bravo said Thursday in a radio interview that state police arrested Enrique Capitaine Marin in a cafe in the northern city of Torreon on Wednesday night.

Capitaine and three others became known derisively through social media as “Los Porkys” after a father publicly accused them of assaulting his daughter.

The alleged assault occurred in Veracruz in January 2015. The then 17-year-old was outside a club with friends when the wealthy young men allegedly forced her into a black Mercedes.

The men have denied wrongdoing.
