
Body found in burned out pickup east of Oliver
OLIVER – RCMP are investigating after a body was found in a burned out vehicle near Oliver yesterday morning.
RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Chris Manseau said in a press release the local fire department had already attended the scene to extinguish the fire when police arrived on scene around 8:40 a.m yesterday, April 30, to a remote location east of Oliver.
Human remains were discovered inside the burned out Ford pickup, which police have determined may have been stolen out of Penticton.
The remains have not yet been identified, as investigators look into the cause of the fire and the identity of the person found inside.
Investigators from the RCMP's Southeast Major Crime unit and the B.C. Coroners Service remain at the scene.
