Skaha Lake Marina sets opening date

PENTICTON – Boaters on Skaha Lake will have an opportunity to see what’s new at Skaha Lake Marina as the interim operators prepare for the official opening on Saturday, May 18.

Randy and Karen Gallagher have been busy making repairs, providing property maintenance and improvements to the marina in preparation for the 2019 boating season.

New security systems and lighting has been installed for additional security as the Gallaghers focus on prioritizing present and future needs, with particular emphasis on the marina’s slip holders and visitors, according to a Skaha Lake Marina media release.

The marina will have 90 moorage slips, dry land storage for boats, in addition to a launch and retrieve service. There will also be fuel, dock, marine mechanical services and boat detailing at the marina. The Nautidog Café, a bistro and coffee shop, will be operating at the marina as well.

Skaha Lake Marina will also be providing boat, wave runner, kayak and stand up paddle board rentals.

“Our family is excited to have the marina fully open and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone,” Randy said in the release. “We have met great people who are working with us and have great staff in place who are local."

The marina will host an open house from noon to 4 p.m. on opening day, Saturday, May 18.

The Gallaghers were successful bidders on a City of Penticton bid for proposals for an interim operator for the marina. The Gallaghers will operate the marina for the next two to three years while the City completes its master plan for Skaha Lake Park.
