Male falls to his death while climbing mountain near Squamish, B.C.

SQUAMISH, B.C. – A male has fallen to his death while hiking a mountain near Squamish, B.C.

RCMP say he fell while climbing Stadium Glacier, which is on Sky Pilot Mountain.

Insp. Konrad Golbeck says Squamish RCMP received a report a male was hurt badly in a fall.

Golbeck says police and emergency crews rushed to the scene, which is a three-hour hike from the Sea-to-Sky Gondola.

He says the climber died before rescuers reached him.

No other details were released.
