Winnipeg Blue Bombers QB Drew Willy leaves game with undisclosed injury

VANCOUVER – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers lost quarterback Drew Willy to an undisclosed injury Saturday night in their CFL game against the B.C. Lions.

Willy was injured on the second-last play of the first half while being sacked by Alex Bazzie. B.C. defensive lineman Khreem Smith also got his arms on Willy as he helped bring him down.

Willy walked off the field, his right arm bent similar to the way B.C. quarterback Travis Lulay did last week in Ottawa after suffering what turned out to be another long-term shoulder injury. Winnipeg backup quarterback Brian Brohm came in and downed the ball to end the first half.

Brohm, 28, continued to guide the Bombers in the third quarter. He had thrown and completed only one pass this season before getting the call for duty.

Brohm is in his second CFL season. The Bombers acquired him in a trade from Hamilton in March.

Willy completed 10 of 15 passes for 88 yards, with no touchdowns and no interceptions.
