A by-the-numbers look at Canadians who received medical treatment abroad

VANCOUVER – The Fraser Institute says an estimated 45,619 Canadians left the country for non-emergency medical treatments in 2015. Here’s a by-the-numbers look at how 2015 compares to previous years, including the percentage change from the previous year:

2013 — 41,838 (One-per-cent decrease)

2012 — 42,173 (Nine-per-cent decrease)

2011 — 46,159 (Three-per-cent increase)

2010 — 44,794 (Nine-per-cent increase)

2009 — 41,006 (22-per-cent increase)

2008 — 33,492 (29-per-cent decrease)

2007 — 47,044 (20-per-cent increase)

2006 — 39,282 (11-per-cent decrease)

2005 — 44,022 (11-per-cent decrease)

2004 — 49,392
