Arsenal agrees to sell midfielder Alex Song to Barcelona in wake of Robin van Persie exit

LONDON – Arsenal says it has agreed to sell midfielder Alex Song to Barcelona, one day after Robin van Persie left the Premier League club

Barcelona says the transfer will be €19 million ($23.4 million) and Song will sign a five-year contract after he travels to Spain to agree personal terms and undergo a medical examination.

The Cameroon international did not feature in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Sunderland on the opening day of the Premier League season.

Arsenal sold Van Persie to Manchester United on Friday for a fee of about 24 million pounds ($38 million).
