NEW WESTMINSTER, B.C. – A charge of second-degree murder has been laid against a man in connection with a death in New Westminster, B.C.

Twenty-five-year-old Steven Rogers made his first court appearance Friday.

Police say 38-year-old Jason Collett’s body was found in a home on Tuesday and that Rogers was arrested the next day.

Staff Sgt. Jennifer Pound of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says the victim and the accused knew each other.

Rogers is scheduled to make his next court appearance on Oct. 8.

Pound says he does not have a criminal record.
