Toronto Blue Jays slugger Edwin Encarnacion and manager John Gibbons were ejected in the first inning of Friday afternoon’s game against the Cleveland Indians at Rogers Centre.
Encarnacion voiced his displeasure with home plate umpire Vic Carapazza after a called third strike ended the frame. Television replays showed the ball was outside.
Carapazza quickly signalled that Encarnacion was out of the game. It was his first ejection of the season.
Gibbons came out of the dugout to argue and was also tossed from the game.
It was his sixth ejection of the season.
