Kamloops Arts Council has scholarship money to give away

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Arts Council is taking applications for three scholarships for local artists interested in pursing an education in the arts.

Two different types of scholarships are open until next week.

The Julia-Appley Mitra Scholarship has two scholarships of $500 each which are awarded to graduating high school students in the area going on to post-secondary studies in the arts.

The Kristina Benson Art Scholarship will award $250 to one current or prospective student demonstrating eagerness and determination in the field.

Both scholarships are awarded annually. Last year’s scholarship recipients were Sophia Doolan and Christina Allen.
