Eastside Road closed near Okanagan Falls following small slide
PENTICTON – Eastside Road remains closed today following the discovery of a failure in the road by an alert boater over the Victoria Day long weekend.
A boater on Skaha Lake noticed a small slide and a failure below the road surface of Eastside Road near the diving cliffs about two kilometres north of Okanagan Falls on Sunday, May 19.
According to the Ministry of Transportation, the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen was notified by the local resident and then staff at the regional district contacted the ministry.
Eastside Road is closed around the slide while a geotechnical assessment takes place, the ministry said.
A detour is in place using McLean Creek Road, which will remain in use until the road is reopened.
