Section of North Thompson River in Kamloops to close next week

KAMLOOPS – Boaters won't be able to get on part of the North Thompson River early next week due to maintenance by B.C. Hydro.

Starting on Monday, June 4 the area of the river between the Halston Bridge and where the North Thompson River and the South Thompson River meet will be closed for four days.

B.C. Hydro will be removing power lines that are part of a three phase river crossing from June 3 to June 6, Mary Anne Coules with B.C. Hydro says in an emailed statement.

The project is to improve system reliability and to maintain a safe distribution system, she says.

RCMP, Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, and Fisheries and Oceans Canada are all in the know about the closure.
