Vernon hospital construction set to launch this week

VERNON – A multi-million dollar construction project to finish the top two floors of Vernon Jubilee Hospital’s Polson Tower is set to begin Wednesday.

There will be a ceremony at 11 a.m. Wednesday to mark the construction start.

Vernon-Monashee MLA Eric Foster will be in attendance.

The price tag on the new inpatient unit is $29.6 million, a cost shared by the provincial government, the North Okanagan Columbia Shuswap Regional Hospital District and the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation.

The unit will feature 60 beds; 14 new ones and 46 relocated from elsewhere in the hospital. The majority of the rooms will be single-patient.
