Court bans sales of some Apple, Samsung products in South Korea as patent war unfolds

SEOUL, South Korea – A South Korean court has ruled that rivals Apple Inc. Samsung Electronics Co. both infringed on each other’s patents in making their mobile devices.

The court also ordered a limited ban on sales of some of Apple’s iPads and iPhones as well as some Galaxy devices in South Korea.

In its ruling, issued Friday, the judges accepted part of Samsung’s claim that Apple infringed on the South Korean company’s wireless patents and that Samsung infringed on one of Apple’s patents.

The lawsuit is part of global, multibillion dollar fight between the world’s two largest smartphone makers that spans about 10 countries.
