Local vet comes to the rescue of injured cat at Kelowna’s Gospel Mission

KELOWNA – Dr. Oz from Rose Valley Veterinary Hospital donated medication and boarding to treat Casador, an injured cat belonging to a resident of Kelowna’s Gospel Mission’s emergency shelter.

Casador and his owner are temporarily living at the shelter while looking for affordable housing that allows pets, according to a media release from Kelowna's Gospel Mission.

"A few days ago, Casador’s owner noticed that he had been injured,” outreach worker JoAnne McKenzie said in the release. “With no money for a vet we called Dr. Oz who did not hesitate to see Casador.”

Dr. Oz’s donation was crucial for Casador’s health, as medication is $200 and boarding is $50 per day.

The release says Casador’s owner had lost his job and housing, and suffers from depression. He is working tirelessly to get his life back on track and volunteers washing dishes at the shelter. Without Dr. Oz’s rescue, Casador’s owner could have been easily derailed from his progress — Casador is his lifeline.
