TORONTO –Some of the most active companies traded Friday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (12,082.23 up 19.72points):

Talison Lithium Ltd. (TSX:TLH). Miner. Down four cents, or 0.62 per cent, at $6.46 on 7,105,188 shares. The stock gave back some of its gains after closing at its highest level since February 2011 yesterday. The boost came from news that Rockwood Holdings Inc. will acquire the Australia-based company for $724 million, a 53 per cent premium to the stock’s Wednesday close.

Eastern Platinum Ltd. (TSX:ELR). Miner. Unchanged at 21.5 cents on 3,650,768 shares.

Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Miner. Up 15 cents, or 1.71 per cent, at $8.93 on 3,430,097 shares.

Talisman Energy Inc. (TSX:TLM). Oil and gas. Up 29 cents, or 2.19 per cent, at $13.56 on 2,836,621 shares.

CGI Group Inc. (TSX:GIB.A). Information technology. Down 14 cents, or 0.54 per cent, at $25.65 on 2,594,408 shares.

Suncor Energy Inc. (TSX:SU). Oil and gas. Up 19 cents, or 0.61 per cent, at $31.44 on 2,529,899 shares. The energy sector finished the day at 176.14, up 0.61 point or 0.35 per cent.

TSX Venture Exchange (1,251.88 up 3.80 points):

Prima Colombia Hardwood Inc. (TSXV:PCT). Down half a cent, or 50 per cent, at five cents on 4,090,354 shares.

NWM Mining Corp. (TSXV:NWM). Unchanged at six cents on 2,871,000 shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Resolute Forest Products Inc. (TSX:RFP). Forestry. Down four cents, or 0.33 per cent, at $12.02 on 2,668 shares. The company, formerly known as AbitibiBowater, is preparing to restart its paper mill in Dolbeau-Mistassini, Que. The move represents a $20-million investment and will provide jobs to 135 people.

Score Media Inc. (TSX:SCR). Media. Up 49 cents, or 46.67 per cent, at $1.54 on 48,850 shares. The specialty TV sports broadcaster’s stock jumped to a high not seen since 2007 on reports Rogers Communications Inc.(TSX:RCI.B) may purchase the owner of the Score Television Network.

TransForce Inc. (TSX:TFI). Transportation. Down 63 cents, or 3.31 per cent, at $18.40 on 1,478,244 shares. National Bank Financial Inc. and BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc. will buy half of Jolina Capital’s stake in the transportation company worth $148.4 million. Jolina Capital, which has been the largest shareholder of Transforce and is controlled by the Saputo family, is left with 8.4 per cent of the parcel delivery company’s common stock.
