16-year-old boy is charged with second-degree murder in Burnaby, B.C., death

BURNABY, B.C. – RCMP say a 16-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder after a man was shot near Lougheed Highway in Burnaby, B.C.

Police responded to several reports of shots fired around 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 24 and found a man dead.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team and the Burnaby RCMP arrested the 16-year-old male in nearby Surrey on Thursday.

Police say when they arrested the teen — who can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act — he was carrying a loaded firearm.

The man found dead at the scene has been identified as 20-year-old Aladdin Ramadan.
