Injured hiker rescued from Dilworth Mountain in Kelowna

KELOWNA – Kelowna Fire Department crews rescued a hiker with significant lower body injuries yesterday afternoon by using the GPS coordinates after the person called 911 for help.

The call came in at about 3 p.m. yesterday, June 11. The coordinates led crews along the Okanagan Rail Trail to the foot of Dilworth Mountain.

The patient, whose gender was not disclosed in a news release, had fallen about 18 metres down a rock face and was suffering from shock along with the injuries.

Crews were able to carry the patient out and take them to Kelowna General Hospital for treatment.
