Coffee competition heating up in Kelowna

KELOWNA – Two coffee giants are setting up to do battle at the corner of Highway 97 and Leckie Road in Kelowna.

Just a week after city council approved construction of a new Tim Hortons next to the Canadian Tire gas bar, they’re now being asked to approve the conversion of Taco Time in the Dilworth Shopping Centre into a Starbucks.

The development permit application, which is going to city council on Monday, says the building will include awnings, outdoor seating and increased landscaping.

Both are on the east side of the highway but Starbucks will be the first in line for those travelling from downtown Kelowna.
